IT'S A BOY!!!

At 5:25 pm on Friday, February 20, Bode Reed Teuscher breathed his first breath in this crazy world. He was brought in by emergency C-Section at UCLA Medical and he is gorgeous.

Gail is doing much better. They're discharging her today. She is starting a wild ride.

NEW BIRTH - DAY 3

Last night I saw Gail on morphine. It was actually a little funny. But I didn't take pictures.

But seriously, they gave her morphine because she hadn't slept in two days and the whole process was becoming a danger to both her and the baby. An anesthesiologist gave her the low-down on epidurals. They then introduced oxytocin into her IV to induce labor. She was also tremendously dehydrated due to the fact that every time she drank a glass of water, she ran to the bathroom.

Now she has an epidural, it looks like the oxytocin is working and she should be able to deliver vaginally this afternoon or evening.

Everyone send out your good vibes so the rest of this process will be a lot easier than the first couple of days.

BOYCOTT "THE PASSION"

This story is reason enough.

NERVES

Wow so I am totally on edge waiting for The Call. Gail has been in labor for about 24 hours now. I expected a call early this morning, but I called at 8 and she was still at home. yipes. I'm hoping all these contractions are making her actual delivery easier.

I'll try to keep you posted.

And now, the real thing...

Gail has informed me that she has begun to dilate. So probably tomorrow we will meet the little person that has been weighing so heavily on her bladder. YAY!

False Alarm!

Gail just called back saying they sent her home. This sucks. She is so ready. :(

GAIL IS IN LABOR!!!!

I can't tell if I'm as excited or more excited than Gail. She called me at around 9:30 this morning to say her contractions are 5 minutes apart. I am so excited. I will go to the hospital after work. They say it's usually 10 -14 hours after the 5 minutes apart to give birth. Although one of the partners at H&S was telling me a really funny story of a woman who was in labor in a taxi in Czechoslovakia -- the baby slipped out when the taxi door opened, so fast that the father had to dive to the pavement to catch it!

Anyway, as this is also a catalogue, somewhat, of events in Gail's pregnancy, I thought I'd let y'all know. I knew her baby would wait til I was back in LA. :)

Wise words from Robert and Nancy

We hate to tell you this, but 100% of the population has breasts!

N (for R)

Good point! I apologize for neglecting the other half.

Babies abound

so our friends Yana and Jean-Michel had their baby girl Tatiana last Thursday. Jess Ritz posted pictures on her website.

Gail is officially due tomorrow. I know I thought she would be early before, but when she told me that her baby was going to be a normal size and everything was not as tragic as her doctor tried to make her believe, I kind of changed that tune. Now I'm thinking the baby'll be a week to a week and a half late. That baby is very comfortable, although Gail is not. Her mother is in town now, which means home-cooked Jamaican food! Oh, how I miss Jamaican food.

Anyway, Gail seems pretty certain that she is birthing this week. Very exciting stuff. I can't wait to meet this little person.

Backlash against Janet's breast

I AM SO SICK OF THIS FAKE PURITAN BULLS***!

Half of the population of this country has breasts. To be outraged or appalled at the fact that Janet's costume came off during a performance, so much so that people are even cutting off all the networks involved with the Super Bowl, is completely stupid and pig-headed. It shows me that this country is truly backwards and retreating at top speed into ignorance. It's truly sad. Any fan of music and dance was thrilled to see a little improvisation in this sad world of prerecorded and over-rehearsed performances. I have truly broken from the mainstream. I'm not even sure I live in the same country as the outraged. They probably all voted for Bush, too.

Funny that a country with a Bush in the White House would be so freaked out by a jewelled nipple.

I love Margaret Cho

Houston Read about this bizarre thing going on in Texas. Margaret Cho is quickly turning into one of my other favorite performers. Not only is she a fellow David Bowie worshipper, but she has no problem saying what she means and fighting for what she believes in. If I have any aspirations at all, I want to be as outspoken and well-spoken about the things I really believe in. You should totally check out her blog as well.
